We are a half-day, play-based, child-led preschool in North Seattle/Shoreline. We accept students of all abilities from 2.5 to 5 years of age, with no potty/toilet training requirement. We have a mixed age classroom where students learn through play, peer modeling, structured lessons, process art and free exploration!
Tiger Lily Preschool is located in the basement of a residential house in North Seattle/Shoreline, in the Haller Lake neighborhood. We have a fun and vibrant indoor space as well as a spacious outdoor play area.
At Tiger Lily Preschool we focus on nurturing the whole child. We use a play-based and child-led approach. Children learn and thrive best through an engaging classroom where play is the focus. We accept students of all abilities from 2.5 to 5 years of age. Students enjoy a structured daily schedule full of free choice play time, story time, free exploration of materials, outside play time and fun process art projects. We are not afraid to get messy!
Social-emotional development is so important in the preschool years. We use a program called Second Step in our classroom to help teach emotional awareness, listening skills, problem solving skills and more. Our teachers are well versed in this curriculum. Some of the topics include focusing attention, identifying feelings, identifying accidents, fair ways to play, empathy building and many more.
We have 10 to 12 students per class with 2 teachers so our student to teacher ratio is never more than 6:1. We have virtual parent-teacher conferences twice per year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring, although meetings with teachers can be scheduled at any time. We pride ourselves on our open communication with parents and caregivers.
Because we are a child-led preschool program, we send weekly recap emails to families at the end of each week highlighting what we’ve been up to in our classroom. This includes explanations about different developmental stages, stages of play, play schemas and more. We also send monthly newsletter that include upcoming dates, reminders and any other important information.
Tiger Lily Preschool organizes two field trips throughout the school year. Families join their student on these field trips. We have a pumpkin patch field trip in the Fall and one to Creative Dance Center in the Spring.
We follow a similar academic calendar as Seattle and Shoreline Public Schools. We have Winter break, Mid-winter break, Spring break and we’re closed for most major holidays. Our school year is from September through July.
We are a nut and egg free school. This includes peanuts and tree nuts. If your student has any other food allergies please let us know and we will work to accommodate them. We want to be an inclusive environment for your student.

9:45am -Snack time outside
10:15am - Art and free choice
11:30am - Circle Time
12pm - Lunch outside
12:30pm - Outside play time
1pm - Dismissal
